Temporary Military Employment

The Armed Forces support 18 top sportsmen and sportswomen with a 50% employment as Zeitmilitär (temporary military employment). Athletes who play an internationally dominant role in their sport can benefit from this employment. The ultimate goal is for the athlete to achieve a diploma or medal ranking at the Olympic Games.

After each Olympic cycle (Summer/Winter Olympic Games), the Sports Centre of Competence of the Swiss Armed Forces informs the individual sports federations about the available positions and gives them the opportunity to register potential top Temporary Military Employment athletes. Subsequently, the Sports Centre of Competence, in close cooperation with Swiss Olympic, decides which candidates are invited to a selection interview in Magglingen and are subsequently designated as Temporary Military Employee.
