Air Operation

We issue OPS Approval to enable operations outside the regulated or not yet legislated framework to be carried out as safely as possible.

We verify compliance with the requirements applicable to organizations or types of operations before issuing a license, approval, or authorization. We also ensure the continuity of compliance with applicable requirements for organizations we have certified and implement appropriate safety measures mandated by the competent authority as defined.

We are responsible for all the Operational Manuals, which define and regulate the procedures for carrying out air missions with the highest possible level of safety.

We issue personnel licences for military pilots, test pilots, airborne operators and aerial photographers, flight test engineers, and military parachutists. In this capacity, the MAA defines the applicable requirements and grants, renews, suspends or revokes licences to ensure that licensed personnel meet the standards required for safe and lawful military aviation activities.

We encourage the construction of alternative energy sources such as wind farms by analysing the impact on military systems and procedures. We coordinate the development of these projects with the cantonal authorities and maintains control over all objects likely to become a factor for military air operations.

The RU MAA ensures military aviation safety in line with regulations from International Civil Aviation Organization and European Union Aviation Safety Agency, including environmental regulations where practical to enhance flight safety. This includes following standards such as Wildlife Control and Reduction where appropriate. Additionally, covering areas such as energy and climate, biodiversity, and noise ensure full legal compliance in environmental matters.
